...when I had some problems sending my 1042-S file to the IRS when I told them it was a Windstar created file, the individual at the IRS said they have never had a problem with Windstar... in fact it ended up being a transmission problem at the IRS, not with Windstar.... I don't know if Windstar has any competition, but I have been using the program for about 2 months now and it has saved my life. The start of school brought at least 100 new foreign students through my office and the program generated their forms while they sat and waited. The normal procedure would take about 30 to 45 minutes each to go through each form and do substantial presence testing, etc. and with Windstar I could do 2 to 3 students during that same period of time. We have fewer than 500 non-resident aliens totally on campus and now I am able to track them all.
