Software Technical Writer
Windstar Technologies is seeking a Technical Writer to join our software development team. The ideal candidate will have the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, set goals, and meet delivery deadlines.
Description:
- Responsible for all product documentation including user guides, online help, white papers, tutorials, and examples
- Learn and understand the needs of the intended audience to ensure that the use of technical verbiage in documentation is appropriate
- Create, assimilate, and convey technical material in a concise and effective manner to both technical and nontechnical audiences
- Review, edit, standardize and/or make changes to documentation prepared by other resources or personnel
- Design and/or choose relevant diagrams, images, and charts to illustrate concepts within documents
Requirements:
- Certificate in Technical Communications; preferably a Bachelors degree in Communications or equivalent
- 2+ years technical writing experience
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience in writing software user manuals a plus!
- Experience with Madcap Flare a plus
- Must have strong interpersonal skills
- Must be very well organized
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to learn complex concepts quickly and explain them clearly to a nontechnical audience

Applications Programmer/Analyst – VB.NET
A Windstar applications programmer/analyst works on current software products and upgrades as well as on new development projects. The ideal candidate will be experienced in standard software lifecycle methodologies and have the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, set goals, and meet delivery deadlines.
Description:
- Design, code, test, debug, and document software applications.
- Initiate system design specifications and prepare flow charts, block diagrams, and report layouts using current design techniques or functional program specifications.
- Convert business layer and data layer of the application to handle MS SQL database and Oracle database.
- Participate in re-architecture of the WPF products to develop Silverlight applications.
- Write application code which is technically sound and easily maintainable, and that effectively employs all corporate programming standards.
- Work with members of development team on other company projects as required.
- Assist QA with trouble shooting and repairing defects.
- Provide deployment and end testing support to clients.
Requirements:
- Bachelor degree in computer science or equivalent with three to five years experience.
- Working knowledge and experience of Windows and web applications required.
- Experience with Microsoft access, SQL Server and Oracle databases required.
- Experience with Silverlight, WCF services and WCF RIA services required.
- Experience with crystal reports is a plus.
- Experience with generating PDF forms is a plus.
- Experience with Install shield is a plus but not required.
- Strong verbal and written communications with excellent organizational skills.

Product Support Representative
A Windstar product support representative provides technical support to
our customers and acts as a liaison among internal departments. The ideal
candidate will have working knowledge of the International Tax Navigator® or
similar software and experience in foreign national payment and reporting
compliance. The candidate should also be able to conduct training demonstrations.
Description:
- Working knowledge of payments to foreign nationals, including:
- Administering
tax treaty benefits
- Calculating tax withholdings and related reports
- Processing tax
forms, such as 8233, W-4, W-8BEN, 1042-S, I-9, SS5, etc
- Knowledge
of basic immigration law, including
- Federal and state tax regulations
and requirements as they pertain to non- immigrant and visa holders
- Detail-oriented with good organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and
written communication skills
Requirements:
- Associate’s degree minimum education level
- Experience using International
Tax Navigator or similar software within the payroll, human resources,
or international office

Director, International Tax
Director, International Tax provides expert advice in the area of international
tax and withholding compliance issues to Windstar clients, assists in current
and new product development, consults to Windstar clients, and presents
at conferences.
Description:
- Assist clients in developing policies and procedures, monitoring compliance,
and designing processes and procedures to assure compliance
- Liaison with tax authorities for product tax compliance issues
- Apply knowledge of payments to foreign nationals, including
- US withholding agents and Qualified Intermediaries on compliance
with Section 1441 rules
- IRS voluntary compliance programs
- Tax treaty implications for foreign investment into the U.S.
- Domestic and nonresident alien tax withholding, accounts payable,
international taxation, regulatory compliance, financial products,
and information return reporting
- Administering tax treaty benefits
- Tax forms, such as 8233, W-4, W-8BEN, 1042-S, I-9, and SS5
- Basic immigration law
Requirements:
- Degree in law or accounting with a specialization in tax. LLM,
MST, or CPA preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of in-bound and out-bound international taxation,
regulatory compliance, and US tax treaties with foreign countries.
